Brentwood Grading Competition - 2008

23rd March 2008

Due to it being held on Easter Sunday, both Cangaroos and the competition in general were light on entries. Six members took part on the day and for such a small entry we had another fantastically successful event.

Matthew Burson in his first ever competition, competing in the boys Under 9’s grade 6 delivered two excellent routines which justly deserved 1st place. Sydney Kelly in her 1st ever competition at just 5 years old, and competing against girls many years older than her in the girls under 9, grade 6 completed both routines and came 8th another excellent performance, especially for a 5 year old.

Trinity Kelly, (Sydney’s older sister), was again excellent under pressure in both rounds of the girls under 9 grade 5 and came away with another well deserved 1st place. Both Kelly girls will be ones to watch for the future.

The under 17 grade 4 competition. was once again a close competition amongst all 7 performers, with Max Fagelman coming in 3rd place, and Michael Keelin just 1.6 marks behind in 4th place.

Finally in the girls under 17 grade 3 competition, Sophie Housden in only her 2nd competition at this level was just 0.3 behind 3rd place going into the final round, finishing just 0.9 off the 3rd place medal after the finals.

So a successful event for the club, despite the low entry. We look forward now to the National grade 2 competition in Hull on 30th March and to the Open competition in Ipswich on 6th April. A full report to follow both competitions.
