The Roos

This is our junior section of the club. It has its own dedicated Coaches , Sarah Allen, Francoise Lucas and Michael Keelin.

The Roos is open to children under 7 years old who wish to take part in competitive trampolining. All Roo's train to compete either at beginner level or grade 6/5. The Roos train on Saturday mornings 9.00-10.00am at Sawston Sports centre.

We have limited spaces available at the session due to our older Roos moving up into full club sessions. If you have a child who is interested in taking part please contact info@cangaroos.org to arrange a trial session.

We have had great success in the club over the last year, with all of our Roos competing in the various Open competitions in our region.

Report for 2007 AGM:
Splitting the Under 9's into their own class this year has been a real success. The group has bonded well socially which has helped with competition nerves and the younger ones are more able to concentrate in a focussed environment. Sessions have usually started on time, although I have frequently been alone in setting up the equipment and I could do with some regualr parent/coach help with this. I may consider a rota for this. There have been some issues with children arriving late (sometimes 9.20) amd missing the start which makes it difficult to get the group to focus and I have had to repeat myself. We are working on time at present. Sessions have consisted of competition/routine practise and individual skill development with emphasis on good form always. It has been helpful to have Francoiase and Michael working with me and the boys have particularly enjoyed having a male role model. All have made good progress this year. Trinity has moved up into the next group. Sydney, Matthew, Jacob, Charlotte and Alexa are working at Grade 6 and George is a 'starter' - although he did perform a routine at the club competition. The Roos raised a good proportion of the money in the sponsored swivel hips event and are looking forward to getting some much needed kit. We would love our own T-shirts please. I would like to start doing some badges next term and am looking forward to working with additional children. The Roos is a compeitive not a ecreational group although we always aim to have fun. With continued parental and coach support, I see it thriving in the New Year. Wishing you all good tidings.
