Letchworth Grading 2008

Date: Sunday 13th January 2008 at Letchworth

Entries close: TBC

Entry ages: 4 years +

What a fantastic day for the club... four 1st places, two 2nd places and one third place and two team firsts. Plus a qualification to the next grade, all from a total entry of just 14 on the day.

18 entries from the club prior to the start, saw 14 actually compete. Our thanks go out to Anne Withington and Liz Housden who judged for us and to Andrea Howard who once again acted as Competition Marshal (they all ask for you now Andrea!). Various club members assisted as warm-up marshalls throughout the day and even Head Coach, Tony Fagelman was seen clutching warm-up cards at various trampolines to help out, a bit of a come down from Chair of Judges, but it did mean he got to be on the competition floor for all our performances.

The day started early for our Grade 4 under 17 boys team and under 11 girl. But followed with fantastic success. Trinity Kelly at still only 6 years old (she's 7 this week) beat off her close rival from Waveney to take 1st place with a fantastic score of 46.5, just 0.5 of qualification. The boys under 17 grade 4 competition was also underway and it was a hard fought competition for the top 3 places between, Joe Chandler, Michael Keelin and Max Fagelman. These three continually swap positions in the competitions, so it was close after the first round with Michael just leading from the other two. Max's higher difficulty tarrif took him into the lead after the 1st round of voluntary's and he maintained it in the final. The result left Max in 1st place, Michael 2nd and Joe 3rd and with those podium results, a guaranteed team 1st.

In the Under 13 grade 5 girls, Eleanor Fish had two good secure routines, finishing in a very credible 5th place. Frances Pickup had problems with her set but came back with a strong vol, finishing 9th. In the Under 15 grade 5 boys, Robert Riley came close to 1st place, missing out by just 0.4 and took the silver medal. In the under 15 grade 5 girls Rachel Davidson managed to come back after a shaky set routine and perform a very good voluntary, so well done for that. In the U17 grade 5 boys, Cameron Fullerton underlined his dominance with yet another 1st place. He will need to get those barani's going and join the rest in grade 4 soon. In the U17 grade 5 girls, Imogen Pickup pulled out an excellent voluntary routine to snatch 1st place, a fantastic result in a hard fought competition. Imogen Howard also did well with two consistent routines and was just outside the medals.

In the under 17 grade 4 girls, our team of Hannah Keen, Jo Withington and Helen Moss took 1st place and in a very tight competition Jo came 5th, with just 0.5 seperating 2nd to 5th place and just missed out on qualification by 0.4. Helen came 8th and Hannah in her first grade 4 competition was 9th. A fantastic performance for all of the girls. In the over 17 grade 4 ladies, Shona Taunton managed an excellent 4th place, again just missing out on a medal.

Finally in the under 17 grade 3 girls competition Sophie Housden in her first competition at this grade pulled of two excellent routines and a slightly unsure final one, despite some early wobbles in training and in warm-up to finish in a very creditable 4th place after making the final.

So the first competition of the season done and what a set of results. Can we now build on that throughout 2008. Next competition, the Grade 1 & 2 gala weekend in Southampton and our first entry at that level with Katy-Beth McKenna, watch out for a competition report in February
