At the Easton Open, hosted by Dragons Trampoline Club, Cangaroos saws a large entry of 19 members, mostly in the beginner grades. But everyone produced their best ever routines and scores.
Most grades were mixed gender competitions, except for the higher F grade, which was spilt into male and female. This made for some extremely large groups, so to gain the positions our members did was remarkable, especially given their lack of competition experience.
In the under 9 Grade K, Raygan Dickenson had two very good rounds, with some excellent scores, especially for her voluntary routine, which earned her the silver medal with a total of 44.2.
In the under 15 grade J, our members swept the board, with Rebecca Livermore taking gold with a score of 44.2, Niamh Finlayson taking silver, just 0.1 behind with a score of 44.1 and Harry Mallows taking bronze, with a score of 43.5. This inevitably led to a Gold team medal as well.
In the under 11 Grade I, Sydney Kelly kept up her recent medal winning form, with another gold medal with a total score of 44.6. Tristan Harris was 6th in this event with a total of 40.1.
In the Under 13 Grade H, Georgina Harris came 5th with a total score of 42.8. In the Under 15 Grade H, Gemma Sebley qualified for the next grade with a total score of 45.2 and took the silver medal. In the 15 + Grade H, Jane Wilkey had two consistent routines and scored 42.0 to take 5th place.
In the Under 13 Grade G, we just failed to get a clean sweep of the medals, Rebecca Sebley led the way, taking the gold medal with a total score of 44.7, Grace Pike took silver, with a score of 44.4, Daniella Stephenson narrowly missed out on bronze, coming 4th with a score of 43.3 and Rebecca Alexander completed our team effort taking 5th place with a score of 43.3 (decided on count back). With those results, the Team gold was a certainty.
In the Grade F competitions, Matthew Burson and James Able were competing in the Under 11 Boys for the first time, following their qualification in March. Both boys pulled out great routines and Matthew took silver with a total score of 47.1, with James taking bronze with a total score of 46.2
In the Under 15 female, Trinity Kelly and Becky Midgely were also competing for the first time at this level following their qualifications. Becky delivered two excellent routines to take silver with a score of 46.7, Trinity rounded out the day, taking the bronze medal with a score of 46.1
All in all this was a great day for the club, with many of our members competing for the first time at new grades with new routines.
