Following the successful qualifications to National level at the recent gradings, just a small contingent travelled to South Shields for the final Gala of the season. On Saturday 4th, Naomi Waldock competed with her Synchro partner Emily Plunkett in the Junior Ladies synchro competition. Two excellent routines resulted in a total score of 73.0 and 7th place finish, giving them their first ranking points of the season. This bodes well for next season. On Sunday Naomi was bidding to achieve qualification to ???Fig B??? in the individual events, but to do this she had to compete in the under 19 girls group rather than the under 17, which she had been doing all season. With National final qualifications already in the bag, there was nothing to lose trying at the older age group. Naomi continued her impressive season long set form with a score of 22.8 but in attempting a much harder voluntary in preparation for the National Finals, her form suffered and only scored 20.9. This gave her a total of 51.2 and 16th place. But as this was out of a field of 47 competitors, the result was excellent. She still achieved National Finals qualification at the higher age group, although she will revert back to under 17???s for the National Finals in July. Trinity Kelly competed in her first gala after her successful qualification at the recent grading. Trinity continued to show her true form at the event as she showed of her natural talent on the national stage for the first time. In the first round she was a little bit shaky, posting a below par score. But in the voluntary round she performed magnificently to post a total score of 49.8, missing the National Final qualification score by just 0.2 and coming 14th out of a field of 26. So another great weekend brings the season to a close. We now look forward to the National Finals at the National Indoor Arena on 23rd and 24th July where we wish good luck to Emma Armitage in over 19 Ladies ???Fig B???, Naomi Waldock in under 17 Ladies ???Nat C??? and Luis Pires in over 19 Mens ???Nat C???
