Cangaroos had a spectacularly successful competition at Brentwood on 15th May. Six of the squad qualified to the next higher grade, including four now eligible to compete at a national level, while the team brought home a total of seven gold, four silver and one bronze medal. At Grade H, Luke Whistler comfortably won the Boys under 11 category, qualifying to compete at Grade G, while Tristan Harris took silver medal. In the Boys over 15, Alex Radford took silver, while Sydney Kelly took bronze in the Girls under 11, in a field of over 20 competitors. Benos Noble secured first position in the Boys over 15 Grade G group and comfortably qualified to compete at F grade, while Harry Mallows took gold in the Boys under 13 Grade F category. At Grade D, the club achieved outstanding results with four bouncers winning their category and qualifying to compete at National Grade C. In the under 15 girls, Trinity Kelly, competing in her first grade D competition scored 81.4. This was the highest the region has seen at this grade since the new system was introduced. Trinity???s achievement is all the more remarkable because she is still only 10 years old and was competing against girls many years older than her. Matthew Burson triumphed in the Boys Under 15 category, also at his first competition at this level and scoring well above the qualifying requirements. In the Under 19 category, Joe Chandler beat Max Fagelman by just 0.1 points, Joe taking gold and Max taking silver medal. In the Over 19 men, Luis Pires took gold competing against Head Coach Tony Fagelman. Tony came out of retirement to celebrate his 50th birthday and compete for the first time in 27 years, winning silver. Trinity, Matthew, Joe and Luis will now compete in National Galas to try to secure a place in the National Finals. Competing at this level they join Cangaroos members Emma Armitage and Naomi Waldock, who has already qualified to compete in this seasons National Finals. Joe, Luis and Max Fagelman already compete on the national circuit in double mini trampoline (DMT) category. The next National Gala takes place on 4th and 5th June in South Shields. Congratulations to the rest of our members who all competed well, especially to Gayle Martin who is just coming back from a broken ankle and to Becky Midgely who made the final in only her 2nd ever Grade E competition. We also want to wish Rebecca Alexander well who had to retire from the competition with a hamstring injury.
