Three Cangaroos travelled to Birmingham National Indoor to compete in the British Championships on the weekend of 23rd & 24th July. Emma Armitage was competing in the FIG B 19+ Female, Naomi Waldock was competing in the Nat C u17 female and Luis Pires was competing in the Nat C 19+ Male DMT. Emma bounced first and she qualified in the first competition of the year at Hatfield in February and went on to score her highest score of the season with a total score of 53.3 and a final placing of 17th out of 33 competitors. Next up was Naomi who qualified for the u17 at the Southern Gala in late February and again in the u19 at South Shields in June. She chose to compete at the u17???s in the British Championships and managed an excellent score of 51.3 and a final position of 14th out of 43 competitors. Our final competitor was Luis Pires, who also qualified at the Southern Gala in February, where he also qualified into FIG B for next season. In the British Championships he placed 9thout of 34, just missing the finals by just 0.8 with a total score of 60.1. So, a great first attendance at the National Finals, roll-on 2012 season where with a minimum of 7 national performers for next year we are hopeful for even more success.
