The second gala of the year took place in Bath. The run in to the competition was not great as Luis accidentally booked a holiday and Ali contracted the flu.
At 3pm on Saturday Ali, Liz, Taranne and Tony all journeyed down in Tony's car, bound for the travelodge Andrew had raved about so much. He loved it so much in fact that he even went to the opposing travelodge to inform the receptionist accordingly.
Once everyone arrived Ali crashed out for an early night amid a crescendo of small violins as the rest of Cangaroos and Comets went into Bath for dinner.
The following morning saw Matthew bounce first. He performed two incredible routines to be in first place for the final and two have qualified for FIG B. His final saw him out-tariffed again but he still pulled through a massive 3rd place and our first ever podium at a Gala since Tony Fagelman in 1845
After a couple of hours Ali had just about cured his illness but was still below par. We're not sure on the exact definition of woeful, but if you looked it up in the dictionary it would probably have a couple of videos of his Bath routines right next to it. Still Ali soldiered on and produced two mediocre routines that was all he could really hope for.
Towards the end of the day was Myffy who had joined us recently from Cambridge University Trampoline Club and Synergy Trampoline Club. She blasted out two great routines to be in first after the final and also to make FIG B.
With that we said our goodbyes and headed back to Cambridge amid many intersting topics of conversations served up by Lizz and Tony. Our next competition will be our own Saffron Walden Grading on 3rd March
