No stranger to early mornings Neil, Stuart and Ali arrived in Brentwood ready for the 2014 Brentwood Open. An ever organised Dave Kingaby could be seen scurrying around getting equipment setup as the IT team constructed the computer metropolis.
As the hall filled we began the day catching up with all the old friends across the region including Clive Salmon from Hi-Tension proudly walking in stating he was pleased he did not have any job for the day - famous last words.
While Clive had finished chairing the first groups on panel 2, Sydney was first of our two Cangaroos entries on Panel 2 in Regional E. Under the watchful eyes of Ali and Franky she performed two great routines and took first place along with the qualification score to Regional D - yes Sydney NOW you can have the purple grading t-shirt.
After a short 'break' it was Ali competing in his first competition since his motorbike accident (get a car when you're older kids). Terry Williams from Ministry of Air kindly offered to mat saving Franky from the horror of chasing Ali around the trampoline on his voluntary. Ali did two good routines scoring 8s and high 7s for his set (and a 7.6 from his Mum Jane) and then a strong vol to finish in 3rd place.
It was a great day and massive thanks To Brentwood for hosting it - our next competition will be the National League in Gillingham where we wish the best of luck to Matthew Burson.
