The 2015 Brentwood Open saw a small contingent of Cangaroos compete in the annual friendly practicing for the competition season. As our team arrived including bouncers, parents, coaches, IT and judges.

First up was Gabe in the Under 13 Band 5. A strong first routine saw him near the top of the group but a small venture to the end deck mid-routine saw his second routine cut short for him to finish 5th.

Anya and Chloe were next to complete their routines and finished 4th and 11th respectively. Despite some early confusion due to the nature of the grades and a sleepy Luis they were then joined by a great first-competition performance from Sophie who came home 10th - well done girls!

Our next competitor was Yasmin in the Under 15 Band 3 and two great routines saw another 4th place finish for Cangaroos - so close but well done.

Next up was Felicity and Sydney in Band 5 under 15 with the ever-harsh judge Ali and former Cangaroos coach Jerry watching their routines. A small piece of confusion from Sydney saw her stop early in her first routine and despite some 'creative' shapes in the second she finished 11th. Felicity continues to improve and two solid routines from her saw her finish in 9th.

Macy was on next - her continuous determination to improve her routine is really starting to play off and with only three competitors remain she was sitting in 1st. Alas (and only just) those three did enough to beat her but she still finished a very impressive 4th in a tough group of Band 3 Under 11 girls.

Toby was fresh from his regional championships result where he became regional champion and two solid routines saw him pick up our first and only trophy of the day coming home 3rd.

After a much needed judges lunch (that Tony could not steal any of this time) Alexa and Meghan were up in the Band 4 Under 15 girls. Some good routines in a tough group saw them finish 11th and 10th respectively.

Our final competitor of the day was Ella. She had a long wait but it was worth it. Her smile brought some light to the end of the sports hall. A small blip in her first routine dropped her down the order but she recovered in the second to finish 13th.

Thanks to all our coaches, judges, martials, recorders, helpers and parents who made it down for the day. We now look forward to the National League finals in London on 21st. Good luck Cangaroos!
