The annual University Cambridge Open saw Luis and Ali pitch themselves against various university students from around the country.
The morning started off with synchro where Luis and Ali despite some romising warm ups Ali travelled a bit too much causing them to fail to repeat their stunning routines from 2014 and consequently they slumped to a 10th place.
The long wait between synchro and individual was filled by watching some spectacular antics from former Cangaroo Byron who dismounted in style on his vol after scoring 9s in his set.
When the 'uber' category began competing Luis was up first. He flew up into the rafters of the hall but despite a promisng started met his maker with the end-deck and that saw the end of the routine. Ali had better luck getting through the set although he nearly overshot the final double having to rapidly counter-swing his arms. Luis sadly again crashed on his vol finishing him in 8th. leaving any hope of a medal laying on Ali. Alas it took him too long to start and despite finishing his routine he was unable to deliver the quality he needed and came in 5th.
It was all good practice though and some new ideas for things to improve ready for nationals.
