As training finished on a cold Saturday in Cambridge a small contingent of Cangaroos made their way up to Cambridge University Sports Centre to compete in the annual Cambridge Open. This year we had Ali and Trinity competing in Elite and S1 Women respectively.
Trinity was on first in the S1 womens group and after the 1st round sat in 3rd place. She looked on course to secure a medal until a small error on her 2nd routine cost her dearly as a mark was deducted for an extra move leaving her in 7th.
Following her was Ali in the elite level. After mis-reading the requirements Ali had to make some last minute changes to a somewhat inconsistent routine in order to avoid a penalty. Despite this he completed both routines to finish in 5th place.
After the individual competition a roulete synchro took place whereby members enter their names into a hat and are drawn with random partners whom they must compete the same routine at the same time with.
Against all odds Trinity was partnered with former Cangaroos member Imogen Pickup. Despite only one warmup they sorted their routine out and finished a respectable 4th. Ali was partnered with Alec from Portsmouth University and despite some ilformed warmups sorter their routine out and finished 16th.
Once again out thanks go to CUTC for inviting us, Cangaroos coaches Tony, Laura and Franky (as well as video Stu) and we now look keenly forward to the Regional Semi-finals!
