Two Cangaroos were part of the 81 strong East Region Team that made its way to Birmingham to compete at the Barclaycard Arena on the weekend of 17th and 18th June. Team East were the defending champions in Trampoline and were hoping to achieve the double, which no Region had previously ever managed.
Macy Dexter was Cangaroos first competitor and had a shaky first round, but pulled out the 2nd best score of the competition finish in 10th place in the Women's Level 3 11-12 age group category with a total score of 49.6. Unfortunately, despite achieving the qualifying score in both rounds, only the top 8 gymnasts qualify for the NDP National Finals in Telford. So close, hopefully next year.
Next up was Sydney Kelly competing in the Women's Level 5 15+ age group category. Sydney completed two excellent routines which not only secured her qualification to the NDP finals, it also gave her 1st place and the Gold medal.
The NDP Finals takes place in Telford on 9th & 10th July and this year Cangaroos will take Sydney Kelly and Matthew Burson (Mens Level 8 17-18 age group category), both are in with a good shout for a medal placing.
The East Region was delighted to achieve 3rd place in this year's Trampoline competition, giving us Podium finishes for 2 years in a row. Cangaroos coaches Tony Fagelman and Francoise Lucas were delighted to be part of the 12-person coaching team and were extremely pleased with the result.
After last year's win, the East was the team to beat, and everyone upped their game for this year's competition, so to come 3rd was a great achievement, well done to all competitors, but especially to our East Region team, we're all very proud of you, especially our Cangaroos contingent.
