It was a cold wind-chilled morning as the Cangaroos made their way down to Colchester for the second regional qualifier of the season. It had been many years since a regional qualifier had been hosted at Colchester Leisure World by Hi-Tension TC put on a great show.
First up in the morning was Amélie in NDP1. Despite some initial fears with her back somersault she performed brilliantly to scoring some low 8s to finish in 7th place. Straight after her in the same group Isla competed and went one better finishing 2nd with slightly higher 8s. Isla then cruised through the range and conditioning and is a potential for the regional team finals.
Following them was Sophie competing in NDP4. Despite a few wobbles she did very well and continued a good run for the Cangaroos scoring mid 7s.
The first of our boys followed next with Cameron in Club 3. This was his first regional competition and he narrowly missed out on a medal finishing 4th.
It was then a long gap till our next competitor giving our coaches a rest whilst catching up with some other clubs.
After the long gap Ella was up and she made amends for her mistake in the previous round scoring 8s and finishing 3rd - great performance. She then went one better and even passed the range and conditioning meaning she is a possibility for a spot at the team finals.
Following her was Rhiannon in NDP3 and Molly in NDP4 who performed consistently finishing 9th and 6th.
It was then time for another medal as Benjamin then took 3rd place in NDP2. A great result but he was unable to pass the range and conditioning routine so will need a second shot at the semi-finals.
Last was Annabelle in her first regional competition at the NDP level. She was not phased by the pressure and sailed through her routines finsihing 14th.
We have one qualifier to go in Brentwood but we are already looking like we have a strong team for the semi-finals with all our competitiors today qualifying.
