Lilia and family with Head Coach Tony made there way to Birmingham to compete in the 2022 National Age Group finals following successful qualification from the Spring Events earlier in the season.
Over the course of the season Lilia has slowly been increasing her tariff and we also changed her 1st routine to over improved Time of Flight potential.
Saturday evening was orientation and this allowed Lilia the opportunity to experience both the training hall and competition hall during Podium training. That evening we took in the sights and sounds of central Birmingham and then had an early night.
It was an early start on the Sunday morning, with Lilia’s flight competing first and registration opening at 8.10am. A successful warm-up in the training hall and then Lilia was marching out to a reasonably full arena.
An excellent 1st routine resulted in a Personal Best score of 39.38 and put Lilia in 9th place in the 1st flight. Lilia then pulled out her best 2nd routine of the season, with her highest time of flight score for her 2nd routine along with an 8.6 tariff, leading to her registering a Personal Best score. The first flight ended with Lilia in 8th place.
The 2nd flight saw Lilia drop to 17th place overall, but this was her best score of the season and bodes well for next season.
We wait now to hear whether she has successfully qualified for the British Championships in October. Meanwhile training continues for the second English Qualifier taking place in Telford on 16th & 17th July where Lilia, Amelie, Lily, Esme and Lucas will all be hoping to confirm qualification for the English Championships
