It was all Christmas cheer as the Cangaroos Christmas club competition returned to the Cangaroos trampoline centre!
This was a laid-back event for gymnasts to try competing in a friendly environment and, for many, this was their first time. We saw some truly brave performances in trampoline and DMT with personal bests across the board!
The day started early (as all competitions do) with gymnasts, spectators, officials and coaches filling the room with pre-competition excitement. The first event was DMT, which is a relatively new (but very much growing) discipline for the club, and we had 13 gymnasts showing off their skills and practicing for the season ahead.
After DMT there were the trampoline events with an enormous number of entries across various ages and abilities. We also welcome students from Sawston Village College to compete to give them exposure to a competitive environment. With two panels running simultaneously, the competition roared through thanks to some excellent scheduling and competitor management.
The coaches' competition saw the title return to Ali, making him one of very few to win the trophy more than once - so for our long-term members, no, Tony still has not won the coveted shield!
After the individual event was completed, we saw the tradition of our fancy dress synchro. Two gymnasts do the same routine side by side in fancy dress. Some truly excellent and creative entries were displayed to the joy of all!

The club is (as always) grateful for the huge effort of our volunteers, who go above and beyond to ensure these events are able to run. This includes (but not limited to) Nicky for being the driving force and doing the leg work, Nicola for the IT hardware, judges (especially external ones Jane, Luis, Myffy), coaches and the committee for all the exceptional work to keep things going. An extra shout-out must go to Scott for the bacon rolls!
