After a long national competition season that comprised, 3 National League qualification events, 2 British qualification events, 2 English qualification events and the Regional Challenge Cup Final, we reached the last national event of the 2024 season.

14 Cangaroos gymnasts had competed across the various events throughout the season and 12 gymnasts had qualified to these Finals, held in the fantastic Derby Arena, home to the National velodrome. Unfortunately, Eloise was unable to compete in the finals due to family commitments. The League 3 and League 2 events comprised the top 24 gymnasts who qualified through from the previous rounds, based on their ranking points. The League 1 events comprised the top 16 top ranked gymnasts and the synchro events were the top 8 pairs.

The competition was mostly split into qualifying rounds on the Saturday and top 8 finals on the Sunday, Cangaroos had high hopes for attendance on both days. Due to timetabling, League 3 women's 11-12 group was planned for the Sunday, with their finals to run directly after qualifying rounds. Synchronised trampolining was also held on the Sunday only, along with all the disability categories and a number of the DMT qualifications and finals.

First to compete on the Saturday was lily Carter in the League 3 Women's 14+ competition. Lily has been struggling with performance blocks for two years and maintaining her positivity and determination to come back and succeed. This competition saw her compete a new routine that included skills that she had been struggling with. A solid 1st exercise put her in 10th place, however, an excellent 2nd exercise saw her climb to 5th, with the 2nd highest score. On the Sunday, she went into the final with a chance to do well and in her Final exercise she scored 43.89 to secure third place and the Bronze medal.

Next up was Liannah, competing in the League 3 Women's 13+ trampoline competition. A solid 1st exercise saw her in 10th position after round 1. Small errors saw her score less well in her 2nd exercise and she finished the competition in 13th place, more to come from Liannah though in the DMT competition). A special mention must go out to Annie Hart from Impulse who trains with Cangaroos as well as she took 1st place and the Gold medal.

Next to compete was Poppy, competing in the League 3 Women's 17-18. A solid routine put her in 14th place after the 1st round. An improving score in her 2nd exercise saw her climb to a solid 12th place.

Sydney and Aleena were next to compete in the League 3 Women's 19+ competition. Aleena completed 2 solid exercises, ranking 10th in both rounds, o finish in 10th position. Sydney executed 2 excellent routines to go into the Finals on Sunday in 1st place. A Final score of 45.50 saw Sydney take 1st place and the Gold medal, Molly and Rhiannon were next to compete in the League 2 Women's 17-18 competition. Molly executed two solid routines, with a high level of difficulty, and finished in 11th place. Rhiannon successfully completed her 1st exercise and although completing 10 skills in her 2nd had to substitute the last high scoring skill for a simpler one. Rhiannon finished the competition in 15th place.

Last up was Lucas, in the League 2 Men's 9-12 competition. Two excellent routines saw him finish the qualifying rounds in 1st place. In Sunday's final, a small error, judged to have been a repeated skill saw his difficulty reduced by 0.6 which left him with a total score of 42.25 giving him 3rd place and the Bronze medal.

As we moved into Sunday for our DMT, Disability and Synchro competitors, we still had Freya's qualification and finals to complete in the League 3 Women's 11+ competition . After a solid first exercise, Freya reached the final in 5th place. Another consistent exercise saw her move up to 4th, just outside the medals. Congratulations thought to Evelyn from Impusle who trains with us as she did brilliantly to take 1st place and the Gold medal.

Our first DMT competitor was Liannah, competing in the League 3 Women's 13-14 competition, who in a really tight DMT competition, qualified in 4th place for the semi-final of 8, retained that position to go into Final pass of 4 and tied for 2nd position and the silver medal. A great performance there from Liannah.

In the DMT League 3 Women's 17+ competition saw Rhiannon successfully make the semi-final of 8 in 7th place, rise to 4th to compete her final pass and then place an amazing 3rd place and take the Bronze medal.

In the Disabilities competition 15+ Women, Bella Moultrie successfully made the final in 3rd place, then saw an improvement to take 2nd place and the Silver medal.

Our final competitor of the day was Josh, competing with Jenna in the mixed Synchro 19+ competition. Difficulty became the main decider in this competition, with Josh and Jenna competing the lowest difficulty in the competition, they did extremely well to place 4th agonisingly outside of the medals, but a great result none the less.

And that ended our 2024 National Season, we came away with a clutch of medals for our gymnasts, in what was probably our most successful competition in years. As always our thanks go out to our coaches, Nicky and Tony, without their commitment and support, the Club could not enter these competitions and a huge thank you to jane who once again supported us in an official capacity as our Judge for the weekend. We turn our eyes now to the Regional competition with our 1st qualifier taking place in November, with our largest entry for many years, with 30 trampoline gymnasts and 10 DMT gymnasts.

Roll-on 2025.
