This time, Cangaroos travelled to the picturesque city of Bath, although we spent most of our time in the Sports Hall, with a few lucky gymnasts and their families getting the opportunity to explore.
First up this morning were Isla and Aleena competing in the League 3 women's 17-18 and 19+ respectively.
Isla completed her 1st exercise, but an error in her 2nd led to a total score of 46.50 and 52nd place.
Aleena completed both exercises and scored 75.34, placing her in 15th place out of 34 and recording 10 ranking points. Next to compete were Pattie and Eloise in the women's age 12 league 3 group. Pattie competed in the second flight and completed both routines successfully, gaining a total score of 77.98 and 7th place out of 45 gymnasts going into today's finals. This gave her 32 ranking points, and with the 100 from the first qualifier, she has certainly booked her place in the National Finals.
Eloise competed in the next flight and successfully completed both exercises to gain a score of 77.44. She placed 8th, earning 28 points and a place in today's final, which also secured her qualification for the National Finals. In today's finals, Pattie narrowly edged out Eloise to take 6th place with a score of 41.20 (tying with 5th) while Eloise scored 41.16 in 7th place.
Lilly was next to compete in her 1st National competition in the women's age 13 group League 3. She completed both exercises with a score of 73.36, placing her 27th out of 47. A great 1st time result.
Last to compete on Saturday was Liannah in the Women's League 3 age 14 group. A slight error on her out bounce in her 1st exercise did reduce her overall score by 2.0 marks, but with two huge time of flight scores, she still managed a total score of 76.94. We then nervously waited for 2 hours and two flights to watch her go from 6th through to 8th and achieve the final. An enormous final score 42.96 saw her take 1st place and win the gold medal. What an end to the day! Lots of ranking points were recorded, and a gold medal was awarded.
Day 2 followed, and we were back in the first flight with Lilia on the trampoline and Lilly on DMT.
Unfortunately, Lilia, competing in Women's League 1, 17-21 group, suffered a rebound injury in her first exercise. Although she attempted both exercises, she was unable to complete either.
Lilly, in her first national competition in DMT League 3, 13-14 group, had two good passes that scored her 39.5 and 19th place, recording six ranking points. This would have been even better if we had not made an error in skill repetition, which resulted in lost difficulty for a repeated skill.
Liannah was also competing in the DMT League 3, 13-14 group and was well placed after a good first pass but an error on pass 2, saw a reduced score of 39.40 and 20th place, recording five ranking points.
Sydney was next up in League 2 Trampoline, and she went into the finals in fabulous 2nd place with a score of 82.12, recording 75 ranking points. Unfortunately, a forgotten routine led to only nine recorded skills and an eventual 8th place. Our final individual event of the weekend was Pattie competing in the women's DMT League 3 9-12 age group. Two solid passes in her first two rounds saw her progress to the top 8 final with a score of 40.40 and 3rd place, securing 60 ranking points to go alongside the 100 she secured in Qualifier 1. An equally impressive 3rd pass qualified her into the last 4 in 1st with a score of 20.50; whereas in Sunderland, she failed to secure a medal, this time, with an excellent 4th pass, scoring 20.00, she took 2nd place and the silver medal. This was Pattie's first silverware at this level, so a huge congratulations.
Our final event was the 12-15 mixed synchro, where Liannah and Pattie teamed up to take on some of the best gymnasts in the League competition. With two exercises to complete and the best score counting, Liannah and Pattie scored 38.64 and took 13th place out of a field of 21 pairs - an admirable attempt for their first synchro competition. We should also mention the successes of our former gymnasts, Josh competing in his first DMT competition, taking 1st place, and Ellie BD also competing in her 1st DMT competition. Our sister Club, Impulse, also had a successful competition with many gymnasts completing their exercises and earning ranking points.

We look forward now to the second English Qualifier in June, followed by the third National League qualifier at the end of June, and then to both the English Finals and the National League Finals.
