Shelford Feast Demo

Shelford Feast Demo 2014

Date: Sunday 13th July 2014 at Shelford

It was an early soggy start at 9:30am as Ali and his father, John arrived at Benos' house to collect the van and trailer. As they made their way carefully down to Sawston the heavens opened threatening to put a downer on the whole day. They arrived at the college and promptly began loading the trampoline Stuart, Franky, Kim, Scott, Simon, Harry, Rhyannon and Sydney had retrieved from the sports hall.

Once Stuart had coordinated the troops we loaded up and covered the trampolines with the tarps provided. We made our way through the winding roads of Shelford and despite missing the turn the first time (Ali's bad there) we arrived on time and unpacked. Though we are not ones to be superstitious Taranne was quoted "I think that will be the last of the rain now" just before the heaviest down-pore of the day started. The rain appeared to persist in stopping us as we took cover under our trampoline-tarp tent. It was when all seamed lost that the sun broke through with around 20 minutes to spare.

With army style coordination the tarp covers came off and the Cangaroos began warming up. Our group photos were taken and plans were made with the Feast staff to get our demo underway. The team of bouncers consisted of Matt, Taranne, Zack, Sydney, Harry, Ashlea, Sarah, Rhyannon and Aailayah with Ali on the microphone introducing everyone.

The crowd applauded everyone as our bouncers showed their colours with jumps, twists, landing and somersaults. We finished off with a glorious linked somersault with Matt and Taranne that lit up the faces of the mildly damp crowd. As we packed away Ali had a quick interview with Phil Rowe a presenter on Cambridge 105 Community Radio as Stuart did his best to put him off - not this time mate ;)

The Cangaroos wish to pass on our thanks to all our helpers for the day including; Benos, John, Stuart, Franky, Kim, Scott, Simon as well as the Feast organisers and Sawston Sports Centre.
