British Gymnastics today confirmed that Cambridge Cangaroos club member Harry Mallows became the 1st person in the UK to achieve the National Leadership Award. The MY Leadership programme has been set-up by British Gymnastics as part of the National Leadership programme endorsed by Sport England and activities across five paths that lead to the completion of the award.

Harry began the award in 2013 when the club initiated its Leadership programme, along with 7 other Cangaroos Club members. All of the Leadership members take part volunteering in Regional and National events and provide help and support to the club and to British Gymnastics Leadership members have to support in the following programmes:

Harry has provided over 90 hours of event volunteering, not including his on-going volunteering with the club. Cangaroos Head Coach, Tony Fagelman said this about Harry and the award. "We are delighted to have such a dedicated member of the club and we want to congratulate him on his achievement, not just in gaining the award, which is fantastic, but on becoming the first person in the UK to achieve this, well done Harry."

Harry currently trains at Sawston Sports Centre and Cambridge Regional College and coaches at both venues for the club and is looking to compete at the Trampoline League event in Cardiff in September.
