Fundraising

Funding the Club

Cambridge Cangaroos is a not-for-profit sport club and as such we are reliant on fundraising to cover the costs of operating including rent, equipment and coaching.

We have a fundraising team within the Committee who apply for grants, and also look for opportunities to raise funds throughout the year within the club – this includes things like the Fair and Cafe at the annual Club Competition, running tombolas and cake stalls at regional competitions and through our Amazon partnership. We're very grateful to our club members and parents for their support and helping out so these events can happen. We're always on the lookout for help so if you feel you could give some time, spot an opportunity for fundraising, or think of anywhere that might be interested in sponsoring and supporting the club please email us on fundraising@cangaroos.org – we'd love to hear from you!

Past support has included: the purchase of new safety mats and a trampoline from Sport England, support towards coach training / development costs from Shelford Feast, support to provide First Aid Training for club members from The Ally Brennan Trust and numerous raffle and tombola prizes over the years from local businesses.

Financial help for Club Members

As a club we're also aware of the costs of taking part in sport, particularly at a higher level, and are committed to helping support our gymnasts where financial difficulties may make it harder to continue, or to cover the costs of competition attendance. We have a limited Hardship Fund intended to help any of gymnasts who may be struggling – please get in touch with one of our welfare team in confidence if you would like more information about this.

There are also a number of schemes locally and nationally to help with the costs of training / competitions:

A number of secondary schools offer sports bursaries / awards for extra-curricular activities (check your individual school website for information)

British Gymnastics also offers a Hardship Fund (link) which considers applications four times a year.
